This animation came from experimenting with the mix of ink and water. Unlike my other projects, its main goal was to immerse the viewer in the music and atmosphere of a Brazilian bar. Instead of being purely frame-by-frame, the arms were rigged and the drawings were swapped depending on the hand positions. The leaves were hand-painted and later deformed in Procreate to create movement. The final editing and adjustments were done in Nuke.

This is the first long-form animation I’ve ever did, and it was a total journey from start to finish. The sequence follows a Vespa racing along the stunning coastal roads of italy, all brought to life in watercolor. The process started in Blender, where the blocking and basic timing were set up, then every frame was printed, hand-painted, and inked to preserve that organic, tactile feel. Once scanned, the frames were animated frame by frame in Procreate, and the final sequence was assembled and polished in Nuke and Premiere. The goal was to capture the thrill of speed, the warmth of sunlight, and the carefree feeling of a road trip, all while embracing the imperfections and charm that only traditional media can provide.

This animation was created with the goal of achieving the most colorful and luminous result possible. It was hand-painted with watercolor on different layers and later animated in Procreate. It continues a project I had started earlier but found difficult to finish, an exploration of jellyfish movement. Unlike my previous work, this one doesn’t use ink—only pencil, watercolor, and cutouts. It’s interesting to see how something that began as a few simple sketchbook drawings turned into this piece.

This was the first project I developed using watercolor—a first step into experimental animation that later opened up many creative possibilities. Even though it’s one of the simplest pieces I’ve made, its finish gives the impression of something tangible, almost real. The simplicity of the animations, combined with their playful and dynamic quality, makes this project stand out. It was also one of the most enjoyable to create, and it introduced me to a world I didn’t know before.
